Location
Location, Composite Livestock Farm at Chintaladevi of Nellore District has been selected to establish NKBC on 21.03.2015, Hon'ble Central Minister Sri Venkaiah Naidu Garu laid foundation stone to NKBC.
Components - Core Activities
- Establishment of ETT Lab ( ET Lab building & Equipment).
- Rain water harvesting.
- Veterinary dispensary including furniture.
- Bio gas plant.
- Agriculture equipments including harvesters and dippers. ( Farm equipment shed and stores, equipment and machinery).
- Ration Balancing : Computers.
- Weighing balance.
- Vermi compost pits, Silage pits.
- Chaff cutter including its shed and drying yard, feed godown.

- Training and Extension Wing
- Administrative Block : Monitoring Cell.
- Bulk milk cooler.
- Milk processing and milk product making unit.
- Semen storage and LN2 storage facility :Cryo- containers, LN and Semen transport vehicle.
- Fodder Block Making Unit.
- Others as per requirement.

NKBC ACTIVITIES FOR 2023 - 2024 (31.03.2024)
1.Land :
- 100 acres of land identified and demarcated for NKBC project and another 150 acres of land identified for fodder production and quarantine purpose.
2.Water :
- Geological survey Department have completed survey of 55 Borewell points, out of which17 Borewells are feasible and digging was done and 10 Borewells are yielding 2 to 4 inches of water.
- Administrative sanction was accorded for energisation of Borewells and permission is requested to utilize the funds from the core activities for energisation of borewells.
- 10 more Borewells points identified in 150 acres of fodder land.
- Administrative sanction is accorded to construct OHSR along with pipeline with 2 lakh litres of water capacity.
- NABARD has sanctioned Rs 1225 lakhs for establishing pipeline for Rallapadu Reservoir to NKBC Project. The district collector and Magistrate, Prakasam District was requested to release 5 lakh litre of water per day from Rallapadu Reservoir to NKBC Project.
3.Civil Works :
- Master plan Design was prepared by Delaval Consultancy.
- Administrative sanction was accorded to construct 4 cattle sheds to accommodate 100 animals in each shed and it is in tendering process by APMSIDEC.
- Administrative sanction is accorded to removate the old cattle sheds and staff quarters at CLF, Chintaladevi by utilising the RKVY Funds from JD(AH), Nellore
4.Electricity :
- Land was allotted to Electricity Department for establishment of 33 KV sub-station in farm premises under DeendayalGrameenaYojana Scheme.
- APSPDCC has submitted proposals to GOI for establishment of Substation in farm premises under DeendayalGrameenaYojana Scheme.
- NREDCAP was requested to setup Biogas Electricity Unit at NKBC Project.
5.Fodder :
- 100 Acres of land has been sown with Maize seed and the yield is expected by Mid April 2016.
- DWMA, Nellore is requested to take up water harvesting and soil Conservation structures under MGNREGS and the work is in progress.
- Forest Department has taken up plantation with 1500 plants.
- Project Director, Micro irrigation is preparing estimates for Sprinkler irrigation.
6.Semen :
- The CEOs of Livestock Development Boards of respective states were requested to supply semen of concerned Bovine Breeds that are maintained at NKBC.
- For the supply of Frozen Semen Doses from BAIF Dr. Srinivasa Rao, VAS, Andrology Lab, Visakhapatnam is selected for evaluation of Semen that is going to be supplied by the BAIF for ten (10) Breeds to be maintained under NKBC.
7.Animal Procurement :
- Four (4) Animal Procurement Committees (APC) were formed to procure the animals from 10 states.
- Animal Procurement Committees (APC-I & APC-II) have visited Karnataka and Tamilnadu and selected few animals of different breeds. The selected animals were screened against notified diseases and the animals shown negative to those diseases are being purchased and lifted to NKBC project programme very soon. As the sheds are not available at Chintaladevi, these animals are going to be accommodated temporarily at Young Bull Rearing station at Nakrekallu.
- Other APC are also going to visit the respected states in the month of April and May 2016 to select the animals.
- Meanwhile DO letters addressed to the Government of Rajasthan, Kerala, Gujarath, Maharastra, Odissha, Tamilnadu, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka to identify and screen the Respective Bovine Breeds of that states to get selected by APCs.
- The Executive Officers of Ananthapur& Chittoor are informed for lifting and transportation of animals from Tamil Nadu & Karnataka in consultation with ANKUSH, NGO. Necessary instructions were given to the Officials along with the payment for purchase of animals.
8.Action taken at Farm :
- Twenty (20) elite Ongole heifers have been identified to get approved from procurement committee to induct in to NKBC Project.
- Twenty (20) elite Punganur heifers from SVV University farm will be selected by the committee by the end of the April 2016.
